Sent our list of ideas
I just sent this to the F.A.S.T. developers through their support form at the SGN website ( http://www.sgn.com/support/send_notification.php?game=F.A.S.T ).
It’s the list we came up with in the Touch Arcade FAST forum:
Hi, SGN
I love the game. Love it.
A few of us have formed a group, the Sgarrista Air Brigade, and made our own forum where we share tips and swap stories. We’ve come up with a working list of some features that we think would help enhance the game, and I’d like to share it with you. Between our members is a lot of F.A.S.T. flying experience; three of our members reside in the top 10, and all are over 1400 pts (not sure if anyone’s still in the 1400’s; I’m at 1650 myself… and climbing!). Our ideas are only ideas, and not criticisms of your amazing game. Please accept our ideas with open minds.
Fight features:
1. Button for flares
2. A way to set defaults for heat seaking missiles as as well as other defaults such as which HUD to use, which view to use, etc.
3. A way to re-calibrate the accelerometer during a match in case one had the iPod in a weird orientation at the start of the match.
General features:
1. Allow top users (top referred to the ranking) to disable fights against low ranking users (example <1400) in order to reduce risk of massive point loss due to an app crash. Alternatively, in order to keep more games available for joining: reduce the penalty for high-ranking players when playing low-ranked players so that an app crash is not so devastating; conversely, increase the reward for high-ranked players when playing the lowest-ranked players. If a high-ranked player can’t get points by beating the lowest rank, while risking a huge penalty if his/her ipod crashes, then there is no point for high-ranked players to even engage with low-ranked players. The scoring system needs an adjustment here.
2. Enable system to detect any really bad lag from either player (slight lagging is still playable) and to exit the game with the poor connection error message with no points affected.
3. Improve the game system to be crash free, just like how other games apps have done so.
4. Regarding created rooms, to have the option of no points affected. This can allow friends to create room to play with each other without affecting the rating (good for experimenting flight tactics with each other).
5. Teams/groups: possibility of having teams or groups who fight for something (points, lands, etc). Private in-app chat for teams/groups (see also #3 in Social features, below)
6. Customization of airplane with decals/colors/flags, etc.
Social features:
1. Have the nationality attached to the game ID. It’s more fun to know which country your opponent is from, and to check the nationalities of the top10 (will look like an olympic scoreboard).
2. Enable online chat in the game itself. This can allow players to challenge one another more easily.
3. SGN should provide a F.A.S.T. forum for all users, with the option to create orders, or groups/squadrons/brigades (like our Sgarrista Air Brigade), and provide a way for those groups to form private forums for their own members.
4. From within the game, allow a way for a player to check for members of his group who are online, and select them as desired opponents, or as team mates in the 2 vs 2.
5. Allow a player to log in as himself from any iPod Touch/ iPhone. This way if you have to share your iPod with your brother/sister/son/wife/whatever, you can still log in as yourself and play. Also, if you get a new iPod, you can bring your player name and account with you.
6. SGN could provide a way, either via the web or in-game or both, to see a much-expanded list of the top players. Maybe the top 500 players. Even if you’re ranked low, it’s still fun to see your name in the list.
